Study Skills Academy Syllabus

ABBA Educational Consultants’ Study Skills Features an intense interactive practice component throughout the course, as noted by the ‘Spiral Applications’ and ‘Advanced Application Seminar’ sessions.

The Study Skills Academy immediately attack time management and management of classroom behaviors, such as how to get the most out of class, weekly/daily planning and organizing materials. Next, we attack ‘Testing Anxiety’ by helping students identify ways to work on the various types of tests given in PGCPS.

The focus then shifts to reading. Since all subjects are learned through reading, teaches reading comprehension strategies that apply to all subjects. ‘Notetaking from text’ instruction helps students improve comprehension from all textbooks and other informational texts.  Next, since all subjects are different, we teach students specific reading strategies designed to enhance reading comprehension in each content subject area. Additionally, students are taught memory strategies, vocabulary extension techniques, effective use of references and graphic aids, and writing techniques for essays and term papers.

Instruction features seminar-type lessons that facilitate higher-order thinking skills for all students.
